On the Way to Franz Josef Glacier

We took the Tranz-Alpine Railroad from Christchurch
to Greymouth, on New Zealand's west coast, and then
down the coast by bus to Franz Josef where we spent two
nights.  Our full day in Franz Josef we hiked much of the way
to the Glacier for which the town is named.  All these west
coast areas are in temperate rain forests, and waterfalls are
plentiful, fed mostly by the rain (5 meters a year; it rains 3 of
every 4 days).
